Abstract (EN)
(Italian, adapted and somehow abridged version of “The Future of Law Professors and Comparative Law”). There is an obvious challenge in the attempt, promoted by doing business and the like, to measure legal systems in a sort of competitive frame and to suggest ways of improving the functional features of the law. Most of this stuff is plagued by an inescapable naïveté; yet, the challenge remains and law professors, in civil law systems and particularly in the Italian one, should steadily reconsider their scholarly attitude, if they want to preserve a role which, as of now, appears close to auto-poietic lack of relevance. The way ahead should be spelled by the “law and…” approach, with requalification to be sought outside the boundaries of the law schools. Comparative law, if properly managed, might indicate a profitable track.
