Prof. Gianluca Faella is Associate Professor of Comparative Private Law at the Link Campus University of Rome, where he also teaches Comparative Public Law and Industrial Law. In 2013 he obtained the national scientific qualification as Associate Professor in Law on Economy, Financial Markets and Agro-food and Navigation. He is also Adjunct Professor of Antitrust Law and Regulation at the LUISS “Guido Carli” University of Rome, and he was previously Adjunct Professor at the University of Siena, the University of Naples “Federico II”, and the University of Bologna “Alma Mater Studiorum”.

Prof. Gianluca Faella graduated in Law at LUISS in 1999, he obtained a LL.M. in Competition Law and Economics at the Erasmus University Rotterdam in 2003, a Ph.D. in Law and Economics at LUISS in 2003, he was Research Scholar at the New York Law School in 2005 and at LUISS from 2008 to 2012. He has been Senior Research Fellow at the Law & Economics LAB since 2003. He is editor of a book on vertical restraints, he authored a monograph on discount policies of dominant firms and more than fifty articles and essays in international and national journals on competition law, intellectual property, unfair competition, and civil law. Member of the editorial board of Competition Law & Policy Debate, the Association of Professors of Economy Law, the European Association of Law and Economics, and the Italian Society of Law and Economics, he constantly delivers speeches at numerous conferences in Italy and worldwide.

Prof. Gianluca Faella is Counsel of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, resident in the Rome office since 2005, where he focuses on EU and Italian competition law and regulation, assisting Italian and foreign companies in several proceedings before the European Commission, the Italian Competition Authority, the Italian Communications Authority, and administrative and civil courts. Prior to joining the law firm, he was an associate with Studio Legale Tributario (an Ernst & Young law alliance practice) from 1999 to 2002 and he worked as trainee at the Italian Antitrust Authority in 2000. Admitted to the Italian Bar since 2003, he was recognized as “Lawyer of the year for litigation before EU courts” by TopLegal in 2019.
